Background: Harstad at 68° 48′ 0″ N, 16° 32′ 45″ E is in Troms county, on the coast, in the north of Norway. The surrounding area has traditionally been among the most productive agricultural regions in the county. Isostatic rebound, after the last glaciation, has caused the old seabed, now dry land, to rise up to 60 to 80 metres above sea level. This creates fertile soil, well-suited to farming.

  1. I always find it interesting how you find artwork in a city, Brock. You even see things as art that I wouldn’t. An interesting blog, thank you. Enjoy the other places you stop at.

  3. Well, Vigdis, what we do depends on who you ask, Alasdair or myself. The main purpose of the trip is to explore northern Scandinavia, so we will also be visiting Sweden and Finland. One task is to visit old Kiruna, before it is destroyed and replaced by new Kiruna. We are travelling by train as much as possible, starting tomorrow. I am on a mission to photograph some of the artwork.
